Having lived through an age where poetry in song and magic were inseparable, he is both band musician and wizard—though he leans more professionally into the former, being a highly successful music teacher at Nakano Performing Arts Academy where he is famed for his brutal methods. Rumors abound that those who can endure his courses in full will be rewarded with incredible debuts in the music world, and he has no end to prospective students banging on his door. Underneath this Spartan of an instructor, however, is a man of great passion who fell madly in love with many in his homeland and suffered many rejections in kind, leading him to compose and perform a number of songs about breakups and unrequited love. These seep into the hearts of his fans, soothing their suffering. Don’t ask him about his past relationships, though, unless you want to see him fumble about in an oafish panic. As a teacher, he admires his young students growing, improving, and embracing youthful life, watching with a yearning for a life he never experienced and never can—from the moment of his birth, he had both the body and mind of an old man. Still, that doesn’t prevent him from arguing frequently with a certain high school girl who is obsessed with going viral and thus intrudes into his niche. He has a surprising amount of metal fans who slip into his performances, and he’s quite talented at winning the empathy of those who have lost something before they even had it. As the creator of the sun in his world, he is looked at by a certain chart-topping idol with the sort of annoyed respect and fondness a young person would have for an overbearing father.

異世界ティルナノグ出身、原初の詩人の「転光生」。詩歌と魔法が不可分だった時代を生きた、バンドマンであると同時に魔法使いでもある。中迦野芸能学園ではスパルタ系音楽教師として名を轟かせているそうだ。指導に耐え抜いた者は必ず芸能界の超新星となるのだと噂されており、門下生は多い。情熱的な性格で、故郷では様々な相手に惚れてはフラレるということを繰り返していたらしい。失恋や片思いのラブソングも多く、多くのファンたちの慰めとなっている。しかし過去の恋愛を掘り返されると、ひどく狼狽してしまうようだ。太古の昔に生まれ落ちたときから、壮年としての肉体・知能を備えている。そのためか、学園で成長し日々変わってゆく生徒たちが眩しくて仕方がない。バズを狙いまくっている女子高生にはキャラ被り故によく喧嘩を売り買いする仲。ライブハウスにこっそりやってくる、ロマンスグレーのメタラーファンが結構いるとの噂。予め何かが失われていた者たちの淡い共感を呼ぶことに定評があるようだ。太陽の生みの親として、某トップアイドルからウザがられながらも親しみを寄せられている。

Vainamoinen possesses two Sacred Artifacts: a Kantele modified to be used as a modern instrument, and magical Verse. Strumming on the Kantele augments the emotions of all who listen, and humming his Verse stirs up memories. It is said that the sun and islands of Tir na Nog were originally created by Vainamoinen’s poetry, though no one else has memories confirming the veracity of this claim. Indeed, the faith of the land suggests that creation of the world is a more fitting accomplishment for his maternal ancestry. In his home world, someone disliked him so much that they were driven to tears, leaving him ever unsure of how to deal with students prone to crying fits. As it happens, he is also known in his home world as the hero who searched far and wide for something called the “Sampo,” which is said to be plunged into the Earth from the north star above to keep the world in place, but details about its reality remain unclear. In Tokyo, his stature as a wizened sage sees him comfortable among the Wisemen. He hails from an age when knowledge and magic were inseparable, however, and is an intuitive learner by nature. Thus he has great difficulty when trying to teach formal, systematized knowledge, and he often makes self-effacing comments about how his guild’s prodigy and master of logic is always getting one up on him.
